I've had a lifelong love of textiles, I was lucky enough to be taught by three of the world's finest crafters - my Mum Rosey, my Gran Hilda and my Aunty Win!
I grew up in Stafford, then moved to London to study Textile Design at Central St Martins. After graduating I moved into the beautiful world of colour, textile and trend forecasting. I worked in busy weave & knit studios, forecasting agencies, the BBC and design studios before setting up Brand Positive, a trend research agency with my partner. I have immersed myself in the art of making throughout my life; seeing and playing with colour, pattern & texture brings me incredible joy and the transformational qualities I experience through making & see in others when they connect with making fills me with wonder. For over a decade I have loved sharing my passion for craft by 'passing it on' to the local community. I've run various craft clubs and workshops for women’s groups including Safehaven Women at St Peter’s Brighton and The Network for International Women in Brighton & Hove, shared skills with Bhasvic sixth form college and PGCE courses, piloted cross curricular and wellbeing craft initiatives in primary schools in Hastings & Brighton, inc St Paul's CofE Primary where I piloted Crafts Council and Arts Award projects and appeared in their advocacy videos.
Craft Revolution encompasses a whole range of things - it's the ‘pass it on’ approach to teaching textiles that I learnt early on from my dear family; it’s the hope and compassion we reach for when encouraging each other to learn new skills and explore creativity and the joy we find in using our hands and creative minds to produce individually crafted items…
I hope you like what you see on my site, and please contact me if you would like me to run a workshop or develop products for you.
Many thanks,
Helen
